DWF survived yet another trip around the sun this weekend and decided to celebrate his **th birthday by taking some students to Hyde’s Quarry for Open Water, Dry Suit, and Peak Performance Buoyancy dives.
I haven’t been up to Hyde’s all summer since I’ve been heading up to Dutch Springs every chance I get, but this weekend I got to enjoy Hyde’s in all its glory. Air temp was about 75 deg F and surface water temp was about 73 deg F. Yesterday we encountered a thermocline at about 25 feet, which wasn’t more than a 5 degree shift
Visibility was about 10 feet, and it wasn’t crowded at all!
On Saturday, we went through the first half of the Open Water checkout dives as well as a Dry Suit class. To top it off, all of my students brought food since they heard it was my birthday weekend. I mean what is a guy supposed to do? It would be rude to say no 🙂
On Sunday, we went ahead and finished off our Peak Performance Buoyancy course. Our last PPB dive gave us enough time for a nice, leisurely tour around the quarry.
What a great way to spend a weekend.
Congratulations to all, and thanks to all!
