July 2026 North Carolina Wreck & Megalodon Shark Tooth Trip

Ever wanted to drop onto a fossil ledge, kick once, look down… and see a piece of prehistoric murder staring back at you?

Yeah. That kind of dive.

In July 2026, Dive With Frank heads back offshore out of Wilmington, North Carolina for two full days of wreck diving and Megalodon shark tooth hunting.

This is real Atlantic diving. Deep ledges. Massive steel. Moving water. Short bottom times and long stories.

No amusement park. No fake adventure. Just earned teeth and honest dives.

The Plan

We partner with Aquatic Safaris, Inc., one of the most experienced offshore charter operations in the region, to run these fossil and wreck expeditions properly. Expect early mornings, solid briefings, tight logistics, and a boat full of divers who understand what they signed up for.

Saturday – July 25, 2026

Megalodon Tooth Ledge
Deep fossil ledge diving in the 90 to 105 ft range, focused on Megalodon and other prehistoric shark teeth. This is disciplined, heads down diving that rewards patience, buoyancy control, and situational awareness.

Sunday – July 26, 2026

John D. Gill / Hyde Wreck
We will combine one of the largest wrecks in divable waters, the WWII casualty John D. Gill, with the upright and accessible Hyde. Big structure. Real history. Excellent marine life. Summer conditions often bring sand tiger sharks, sandbar sharks, and serious fish density.

Final sites are always weather and conditions dependent. Offshore diving answers to the ocean first. But this is the working plan.

Who This Trip Is For

This trip is built for divers who:

  • Are Advanced Open Water certified
  • Are Nitrox certified
  • Are comfortable approaching 100 ft
  • Like dives with purpose, not sightseeing loops
  • Want stories you earned and teeth you dug out yourself

If that description makes you smile instead of sweat, you are in the right place.

You do not need to live in Maryland to join this trip. Divers travel in from all over for these offshore weekends. If you meet the prerequisites and the mindset fits, you are welcome on the boat.

Required Certifications & Gear

These are non-negotiable dives. You will need:

  • Advanced Open Water (or equivalent)
  • Enriched Air Nitrox
  • Dive computer
  • SMB / safety sausage
  • Wreck reel
  • Cutting tool
  • Mesh goodie bag for fossil recovery

If you are missing something, reach out early. Most issues can be solved ahead of time. Not at the dock.

If you are unsure whether you are ready for this level of diving, ask before you book. These are not “figure it out underwater” dives.

Classes You Can Add On

This trip is a perfect opportunity to complete dives for:

  • Megalodon Tooth Fossil Diver
  • Wreck Diver
  • Enriched Air Nitrox (if you need it)

Academics are handled ahead of time via eLearning, and the practical portion happens where it should. On real offshore dives in real conditions.

If you want to add a class, email me directly at
frank@divewithfrank.com and we will coordinate it cleanly.

If you have questions about readiness, logistics, or whether this trip is a strong fit, ask before you book. I would rather answer emails now than have hard conversations at 7:30 AM on the dock.

Let’s do some diving.
