May 2026 North Carolina Wreck & Megalodon Shark Tooth Trip
Ever wanted to drop onto a fossil ledge, kick once, look down… and see a piece of prehistoric murder staring back at you?
Yeah. That kind of dive.
In May 2026, Dive With Frank is heading back offshore out of Wilmington, North Carolina for two full days of wreck diving and Megalodon shark tooth hunting.
This is real Atlantic diving. Deep ledges. Big steel. Moving water. Limited bottom time and unlimited stories.
No amusement park. No fake adventure. Just earned teeth and honest dives.
The Plan
We partner with Aquatic Safaris, Inc., one of the most experienced offshore charter operations in the region, to run these fossil and wreck expeditions the right way. Expect early mornings, solid briefings, tight logistics, and a full boat of divers who understand why they signed up.
Saturday – May 16, 2026
Megalodon Tooth Ledge
Deep fossil ledge diving in the 90 to 105 ft range, focused on Megalodon and other prehistoric shark teeth. This is methodical, heads down diving that rewards patience, buoyancy control, and situational awareness.
Sunday – May 17, 2026
Sue’s Ledge / Hyde Wreck
We’ll combine fossil hunting with a classic Wilmington wreck dive on the Hyde, an upright hopper dredge that is easy to navigate and absolutely loaded with life. Late spring often brings sand tiger sharks, turtles, barracuda, and dense structure fish life.
Final sites are always weather and conditions dependent. Offshore diving answers to the ocean first. But this is the working plan.
Who This Trip Is For
This trip is built for divers who:
- Are Advanced Open Water certified
- Are Nitrox certified
- Are comfortable approaching 100 ft
- Like dives with purpose, not sightseeing loops
- Want stories you earned and teeth you dug out yourself
If that description makes you smile instead of sweat, you’re in the right place.
You do not need to live in Maryland to join this trip. Divers fly in from all over for these offshore weekends. If you meet the prerequisites and the vibe fits, you are welcome on the boat.
Required Certifications & Gear
These are non-negotiable dives. You will need:
- Advanced Open Water (or equivalent)
- Enriched Air Nitrox
- Dive computer
- SMB / safety sausage
- Wreck reel
- Cutting tool
- Mesh goodie bag for fossil recovery
If you are missing something, reach out early. Most issues can be solved ahead of time. Not at the dock.
If you are unsure whether you are ready for this level of diving, ask before you book. These are not “figure it out in the water” dives.
Classes You Can Add On
This trip is a perfect opportunity to complete dives for:
- Megalodon Tooth Fossil Diver
- Wreck Diver
- Enriched Air Nitrox (if you need it)
Academics are handled ahead of time via eLearning, and the hands-on portion happens exactly where it should. On real offshore dives in real conditions.
If you want to add a class, email me directly at
frank@divewithfrank.com and we will coordinate it cleanly.

Book Your Spot
These offshore Meg trips are limited to 14 divers and consistently fill.
If Meg teeth, wreck steel, and saltwater mornings are your idea of a proper weekend, do not wait on this.
If you have questions about readiness, logistics, or whether this trip is a strong fit, ask before you book. I would rather answer emails now than have hard conversations at 7:30 AM on the dock.
Let’s do some diving.
