If you are in Rockville, Bethesda, Silver Spring, Gaithersburg, Germantown, Potomac, or anywhere in Montgomery County, you are well within range. I regularly work with students across the county who want structured, skills-first scuba training.
The goal is not to rush you through a certification card. The goal is comfort, control, and repeatable skill so that when you finish, you feel capable in the water, not just certified.
How certification works
- Knowledge: Learn the concepts and standards so the skills make sense.
- Pool sessions: Build buoyancy, awareness, and problem-solving in controlled water.
- Open water checkout dives: Demonstrate the required skills in open water and earn certification.
Pool sessions are scheduled based on class structure and seasonal availability. Some classes follow fixed dates. Others allow more flexibility. You can review options before committing.

Training logistics
Students from Montgomery County typically complete pool sessions at regional facilities selected based on season and availability. Open water checkout dives are conducted at approved training sites appropriate for certification.
The focus is structured progression and skill development, not checking boxes as quickly as possible.
Required personal gear
For initial open water certification training, students provide the following minimum personal gear:

- Boots
If you need help selecting properly fitting gear, I will guide you. No unnecessary upsells or wasted purchases.
