Who should take this course?
If you are starting to do multiple dives a day, diving deeper than 60 feet, or finding yourself ending dives because of no-decompression limits instead of air supply… this course is for you.
Nitrox is not about diving deeper.
It’s about diving smarter.
This is the class that makes divers come up from a dive, look at their computer, and say:
“Wait… I still had time left?”
This course is ideal if:
- You are doing repetitive dives on trips or charters
- You are diving in the 60–100 ft range and hitting NDL limits
- You want longer dives and shorter surface intervals
- You are planning travel, liveaboards, or intensive dive weekends
All it takes is one day of deep Caribbean diving on air, watching your computer shut you down early, to realize Nitrox is a game changer.
What will you learn?
This course teaches you how and why enriched air works, not just how to check a box.
You will learn:
- Why reduced nitrogen means longer no-decompression limits
- How to safely manage oxygen exposure
- How to analyze the oxygen content in your tank
- How to correctly label and track Nitrox cylinders
- How to set and verify your dive computer for Nitrox diving
This is a knowledge-based specialty with practical skills.
No underwater dives are required, though dives may be included if you want to combine this with other training.
How is this course taught?
This course is taught privately or in small groups, at a pace that makes sense.
We will cover:
- Real-world dive planning scenarios
- Common Nitrox mistakes and how to avoid them
- How Nitrox actually changes your diving, not just the theory
This is not a rushed lecture.
You will leave knowing exactly when Nitrox helps and when it does not.
eLearning or in-person?
Most students choose to complete the knowledge development portion of this course through PADI eLearning. It’s efficient, flexible, and lets you move at your own pace.
That said, if you prefer an in-person classroom session, I’m happy to teach it that way too.
Either option covers the same material and results in the same certification. The hands-on portion of the course, including tank analysis, dive planning, and real-world application, is always completed directly with me.
Bottom line: choose the format that fits your learning style. You still get proper instruction either way.
What gear will you use?
You will work hands-on with:
- Oxygen analyzers
- Nitrox cylinder markings and labels
- Dive computers set for enriched air
Most modern scuba gear and computers are Nitrox compatible. I will help you confirm that your equipment meets manufacturer and safety requirements.
How long will it take?
This course can usually be completed in a single classroom session.
If dives are included or paired with other training, scheduling will be adjusted accordingly.
