Diving should be fun. If you have spent any time around me or on this site, that part should be obvious.
It should also be calm, intentional, and rooted in good judgment. Those things are not in conflict.
When scuba is taught well, they reinforce each other.
This page explains how I teach, what I value, and what you can expect when you train with Dive With Frank.
It is not a sales pitch. It is a statement of standards.
Calm Comes First
Calm divers make better decisions. Calm divers conserve gas. Calm divers notice small issues before
they become problems.
I do not manufacture stress during training. I do not rush skills. We build comfort deliberately,
layer by layer, until calm becomes the default underwater.
I may be the one paying attention to the details, but I don’t want you stressed. Training should feel
calm and supportive, not rushed or overwhelming.
Fun follows naturally after that.
Competence Is Earned
I do not take shortcuts. Not on skills. Not on safety. Not on readiness.
My goal is not to push people through a checklist. My goal is to create divers who understand what
they are doing and why they are doing it.
Happy, confident, and competent divers are the goal. One without the others is a recipe for a very
bad day.
Breaking the Chain Early
Most dive emergencies do not appear out of nowhere. They grow.

Small issues become problems. Problems stack. Eventually, someone is managing an emergency instead of enjoying a dive.
My teaching philosophy lives upstream. We focus on recognizing issues early, correcting them calmly, and never letting the chain build momentum.
Small Groups by Design
I keep class sizes small on purpose.
Smaller groups mean more time practicing, clearer feedback, and the ability to slow down when
someone needs it. Everyone learns at a different pace, and training should respect that.
Straight Answers, Up Front
I have signed up for classes that sounded reasonable until the add-ons started stacking. Pool fees.
Extra dives. Gear charges. Suddenly the number in your head is not the number on the receipt.
That never sat right with me.
When you train with Dive With Frank, pricing is clear and upfront. You know what is included before
you commit. No surprises later.
Is This the Right Fit?
This approach works best for people who want to learn skills thoroughly, feel relaxed underwater,
and understand the why, not just the how.
If you are looking for the fastest possible certification with the least amount of effort, this may
not be the right fit. And that is okay.
There are many ways to learn to dive. This is mine.
If this resonates, I would love to dive with you.
