Quarry temperature check: lakes and quarries can be much colder below the surface. Use the coldest water you expect at depth, not just the surface temperature.
Instrumentation & cylinder-pressure monitoringThese choices are additive. Select the instruments you actually carry. Air integration assumes a compatible transmitter installed on the regulator first stage and paired with the computer, and it can be used alongside an analog SPG.

Build the Checklist Around the Dive
The DWF Scuba Packing Checklist Generator helps you build a practical packing list for the dive you are actually planning. Start with one of the ready-made templates, adjust the dive profile and conditions, then add or remove anything you need.
Instead of forcing you to work through one enormous master list, the checklist changes with the dive. A local quarry day, night dive, wreck dive, liveaboard, tropical resort trip, or megalodon tooth charter can all start from a different baseline.
Choose a Starting Point
You do not have to build every checklist from scratch. The generator includes starting templates for different kinds of diving and trips, including local dive days, classes, boat charters, dive weekends, international resort trips, liveaboards, megalodon tooth and wreck trips, and save-a-dive kits.
Pick the template that gets you closest to what you are doing. From there, the rest is yours.
Make It Yours
The defaults are starting points, not commandments.
Add an item I missed. Remove something you do not use. Change the dive conditions. Adjust your exposure protection. Turn wreck, night, deep, boat, photography, self-reliant, fossil-hunting, and other options on or off as they apply.
The generator can also help you think about where equipment is coming from. Some items may be things you own, while others may reasonably be rented or provided by a dive operator. That does not mean a particular shop, boat, resort, or destination will have the item available. It means it is worth confirming before you leave home.
More Than Just Scuba Gear
A real dive trip involves more than a mask, fins, BCD, and regulator.
Depending on the template and dive profile, your checklist may also include exposure protection, cylinders and gas, safety and signaling equipment, lights, navigation gear, photography equipment, electronics and chargers, save-a-dive supplies, bags, travel documents, clothing, toiletries, medications, food, personal items, and other trip-specific needs.
The goal is not to put everything on every checklist.
The goal is to surface the things that make sense for this dive.
Save It, Share It, Use It Again
Once you get a checklist the way you want it, you do not have to recreate it the next time you make the same kind of dive.
Use the generated share link to bookmark your checklist configuration or send it to a buddy, student, class, or dive group.
The shared link preserves the checklist setup, but not your packing checkmarks. Every shared or bookmarked checklist opens fresh and unchecked, ready to use again.
That means you can build the list once, keep the configuration you like, and still start with a clean packing checklist every time.
Useful for Buddies, Classes, and Dive Groups
Sharing is one of the reasons I wanted this tool to work the way it does.
An instructor can build a checklist for an upcoming class and send the same starting point to every student. A buddy team can agree on a list for a wreck or boat dive. A trip leader can build a baseline for a weekend or liveaboard and give everyone the same place to start.
Each diver can still adjust the checklist for their own equipment and needs, but everyone begins with the same basic plan.
Your Packing Checkmarks Stay Temporary
The checklist is designed to help you pack, not create a permanent record of what you checked off.
Your checklist configuration can be preserved through a bookmarked or shared URL, but the individual packing checkmarks are not stored in that URL. Opening it again gives you a fresh checklist.
Display and layout preferences may be stored locally in your browser so the tool can be more convenient on the device you are using. Packing checkmarks remain temporary.

The DWF Scuba Packing Checklist Generator is 100% free to use on Dive With Frank. You do not need to create an account, log in, or provide an email address just to build a checklist.
Your checklist configuration is processed to build the checklist, but the tool does not require a personal profile or save your checklist as a personal database record.
Public Beta: Help Make the Defaults Better
The Checklist Generator is now in public beta, and I want people to put it to work.
If something is missing, confusing, unnecessary, or just plain wrong for the kind of diving you do, let me know.
Maybe you found an item that belongs in one of the existing defaults. Maybe something I included should not really be there. Maybe you built a variation that deserves to become another starting template entirely.
And if you come up with a better baseline than I did, I am perfectly happy to use the better version.
Scuba is too varied for one person to pretend there is a single perfect packing list. If divers actually use the tool and share what works, the defaults can keep getting better for everybody.

The Checklist Generator is a planning aid. It does not replace scuba training, instructor guidance, dive operator requirements, local rules, equipment manufacturer instructions, or your own judgment.
Conditions change. Dive operators have their own policies. Specialized dives may require equipment that is not part of a general baseline. Rental and provided equipment varies from one operation to another.
Use the tool to get organized, then confirm what you actually need for the dive in front of you.
