DWF started off the summer (the summer solstice was this Thursday) with some Zombie Killing Mahem! 2018’s first PADI Zombie Apocalypse Diver class brought together some of the roughest, toughest, zombie hunting enthusiasts this side of the Patuxent River to learn about what to do when the nigh-inevitable Zombie Apocalypse finally does get here.
Divemaster Andrew assisted, alternating between assisting our would-be Zombie Hunters and chewing on a nascent brain stem when the opportunity arose.
Zombie Apocalypse Diver Prep
DWF and Divemaster Andrew get ready for today’s (6/23/2018) PADI Zombie Apocalypse Diver class! The latest class info (including dates) can always be found at https://zombie.divewithfrank.com
Last night we hit the classroom at Columbia Scuba to learn about:
- Zombies throughout history
- Methods of infection
- Government stance on zombies
- Treatment of the infected
- Scavenging and resource reclamation
- Tetrodotoxin’s use in zombification
- Zombie related sign language
Then we hit Hyde’s Quarry this morning to put our newly acquired Zombie Apocalypse Survival skills to the test. Look at us, all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.
And only a few hours later:
Our Zombie Hunters did great, with only a minor case of infection at the end of the afternoon…
Just ask Andrew, our zombie hunters were delicious…err I mean great!
I guess that my favorite part was showing my students that our tasks which may have seemed simple when introduced in the classroom…get a whole lot tougher when we’re wearing gloves, and working in low viz, and of course dodging zombies.
We had a great time, learned a few things, and pushed our own limits.
So congratulations to Columbia Scuba‘s three newest Zombie Apocalypse Divers! Always remember to double-tap!
