Sometimes, the most enjoyable things are the kinds of surprises that seem to materialize out of thin air. Today, I got to enjoy one of those!
About a week ago I received an email from a First Lego League (FLL) robotics team from a school up in PA who was interested in a Discover Scuba for their members. When I heard they were a robotics team I thought “well that’s a little different, what would robotics and scuba diving have in common?” Well it turns out that this year’s FLL theme is Submerged!
The team was coming down to Baltimore to visit the National Aquarium and they hoped to kick off their day with a Discover Scuba. How awesome!
DWF took the morning off work and proceeded to introduce a whole crew of kiddos (and their mentors) to their very first breaths underwater.
As an instructor, the most enjoyable thing I heard all day was when a couple of the kids came to the surface and one looked at his friend and said “THAT…WAS…AWESOME!”
What a great day! From the sound of it somewhere up in PA in the near future there will be several new scuba divers looking for their next adventures.
