This weekend DWF finished up his very last scheduled PADI Open Water Scuba Diver course of the year. Flanked by my awesome Divemaster Andrew we took four students through their four Open Water checkout dives this weekend.
Winter is definitely coming as the temperatures continue to decline. Two weeks ago the surface temperature was in the 70s. This weekend the surface temperature was 66 degrees F down to the thermocline at 28 feet. How do I know the thermocline is at 28 feet you ask? Well because yesterday after class I did a fun dive with a buddy without a hood or gloves. 🙂

Sunday afternoon, DWF also finished up a PADI Dry Suit class. I gotta tell you that I LOVE teaching Dry Suit. Talk about a class that really lets students open up their skills envelope. My student can now dive all winter, instead of packing it in..well right about now!
During our dives we headed down past not one, but two thermoclines to the school bus that sits at about 42 feet. According to my dive computer it was about 50 degrees down there. It sure felt a lot colder tho. I like showing a student just how good a Dry Suit is at keeping the chill at bay so we can get some diving in!
So congratulations to Columbia Scuba‘s newest Open Water AND Dry Suit divers!
Good luck in your future scuba endeavors. I can’t wait to hear and maybe even participate!
